Hill College Board of Regents holds September monthly meeting

On September 17, 2024, the Hill College Board of Regents met for the monthly regular session meeting.

The minutes from the August regular meeting, closed meeting, and special called meeting were approved. The financial report was presented and approved.

President Mills presented his report, including an update on the renovation of the Bob Bullock Sports Center and the softball field and invitations to upcoming college events. Vice President Lizza Ross shared reports from student activities underway as the semester kicked-off. Executive Director Ashlee Ferguson provided the board an update on various advancement activities including the annual We Believe Campaign. Executive Director Kevin Rocha gave an update on the esports team’s inaugural season to-date. Dean Randy Graves provided an athletic report. Vice President Irene Accomando presented the 120-day update for the Fire Academy reconfiguration, including marketing efforts for the spring relaunch.

An update on enrollment was presented; overall enrollment numbers are relatively flat.

Personnel updates were also presented and approved.

Dr. Mills and Director Matt Southard presented a bid for completion of the Bob Bullock Sports Center from Target Solutions Construction, for a total of $221,175.60. The motion was approved.

VP Ross presented the 2021-2024 Junior College Audit Report, the 2024-2025 Emergency Operation Plan, and the 2023 Clery Act Report for approval. The motions passed.

Dr. Mills presented an Investment Policy Update. The motion passed.

Upon return from closed session, the board reconvened to regular session. The board approved to add an additional year to the president’s contract for a total of three more years; to add $2,000/year to his salary; to permanently give the president an additional five (5) vacation days and five (5) personal days per year; and to permanently give the president a $500/month contribution to a tax-sheltered investment account.

Members present: David Teel, Karen Brackin, Kent Eubank, Jolene Lehmann, Tony Marley, Jennifer Nowlin, Dwight Lloyd, Bill Siddons, Allan Lane, Bill Galiga, and Rick Sullins.

The Hill College Board of Regents meets the third Tuesday of every month.
